Pre School Rooms

Caterpillars Room

For our 2 to 3 year olds, we use In the Moment Planning, to encourage your child to develop creativity, caring for others and social skills.

We consider every activity to be a learning opportunity – sorting shapes and sizes introduces early mathematics, enjoying rhymes, singing and music encourages language development and painting, mark making and messy play stimulate creativity.

Nappy Changing and Toilet Training

Children do not need to be toilet trained to attend our Pre School. Parents/carers are asked to provide nappies, and wipes. When the time comes to start toilet training we will work with you and your child to help them adapt confidently to this new experience, encouraging them to take responsibility for their own hygiene and promoting the importance of correct hand washing.

Butterflies Room
Pre School is an important milestone for children. At Ardley Hill Pre School we prepare our older children so that they are ready for school. We work closely with the 4+ at Ardley Hill Academy and other Lower/Primary schools to ensure a smooth transition.
We use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to structure our daily activities. Improving social development, communication and interaction skills are a key focus and we encourage the children to engage in organised activities that are specifically designed to enhance their development.

Outdoor Learning

We have a lovely outdoor learning environment with both tarmac and grass areas. We have a big commitment to outdoor play and we aim to provide rich opportunities for the children to develop and learn in all weathers. Children are able to choose to play inside and outdoors throughout the session.

Being outside not only promotes a healthy and active lifestyle but it also gives children lots of space and the freedom to explore.  The children are exposed to sunlight helping their bodies make vitamin D and this also has a positive impact on the children, giving them a sense of well being, making them feel good.

Children are more likely to catch coughs and colds being indoors during the colder months. Windows are usually shut with the heating on meaning germs are able to spread more easily. Colds are not caused by exposure to cold air or dampness. Colds are a viral infection. Children should come to Pre School suitably dressed to play outdoors (and they are likely to get messy!)
